Making a difference in the life of a child living with HIV or AIDS became easier with the partnership of Angelwish.org and The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC). Local children living with the disease are now on the gift-giving lists of thousands of Americans across the country.
Using a computer and credit card, Angelwish donors can contribute online to the children’s wish lists at The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital, as well as more than 82 similar Angelwish care centers across the United States. Children and their families living with HIV and AIDS are often economically challenged. Angelwish is a nonprofit organization that was developed to enable people to grant the wishes of millions of children worldwide who are living with HIV or AIDS. Currently, this is the only non-profit wish-granting organization on the internet focused exclusively on HIV and AIDS.
A simple concept grown into a large gesture, Angelwish is simple to use. Donors simply go to www.angelwish.org/center/hackensack.php and conduct a transaction much like they would if they were to buy a book or product online. Just like a contribution for any nonprofit, Angelwish donations are tax-deductible.
"It is very simple to make a contribution," says Julia Piwoz, M.D., chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. "When you go to www.angelwish.org/center/hackensack.php, you will find more information on the work we do and you’ll have the option to grant a wish to our children through a special wish list with Amazon.com, or you can make a credit card donation and we will purchase the gifts.”
The goal of both Angelwish and The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital is to make a substantial difference in the life of a child who is forced to live with HIV or AIDS.
