Can you die of a broken heart?

Signs and symptoms of broken heart syndrome, also known as stress-induced cardiomyopathy or takotsubo cardiomyopathy, mimic a classic heart attack—shortness of breath and chest pain. But tests reveal patients don't suffer from the usual blockage of the arteries that supply the heart with blood.
