Dr. Bernard Park Receives Scholarship from the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education

Bernard Park, M.D., chief of Thoracic Surgery, Hackensack University Medical Center, and co-chief, Thoracic Oncology Division, the John Theurer Cancer Center, has received a $2,500 scholarship to attend the Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University in June. The scholarship was awarded by the Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education (TSFRE), and the leadership program will take place June 9 to 15, 2013, in Waltham, Massachusetts.
“I would like to congratulate Dr. Park on being a recipient of this prestigious scholarship,” said Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., executive vice president and chief medical officer of HackensackUMC. “Dr. Park is already a world-class physician and expert in thoracic surgery, and this leadership program will undoubtedly enhance his already successful leadership abilities.”
This intensive one-week Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management equips health leaders with the knowledge and skills essential for creating innovative and sustainable solutions to improve the quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare service delivery, and participating in healthcare policy and reform. This program will help solidify participants’ knowledge of healthcare policy and management, and enable participants to be effective change agents in these crucial areas.
