Goats Help Prevent California Wildfires

As browsers, goats love munching on weeds and brush, and will happily clear away dry brush before they’ll eat grasses. They also enjoy eating invasive plants and grasses, which are prevalent in California and known to increase wildfires. Goats are ideally suited for climbing on steep hillsides, where wildfires often burn through but people have difficulty accessing to clear away brush.  Goats are a natural match to help prevent California wildfires, and hundreds of goats have been hired to do just that. Anaheim is among the California cities that have contracted with Environmental Land Management (ELM), a company that rents out goats to help with fire prevention.  Read more....
