Our GTC Greening The Cleaning® products are manufactured at the highest standards for the health and safety of humans and the environment.  Our products deliver the maximum level of efficacy at the lowest possible level of toxicity. We disclose all ingredients to the greatest extent possible.  We strive to use only all-natural or all naturally-derived ingredients in our products whenever possible.  Effective all-natural ingredients are not available for every type of cleaning product at this time.  For this reason, we have established three categories for our products:  DIN, DIC, and Sanitizers & Disinfectants.






 

DIN Products

Our DIN products are formulated using naturally-derived, plant-based ingredients that help minimize the hazards normally associated with traditional cleaning products. Some DIN products may contain 0.01% of FD&C (food grade) dyes for use in institutional settings. DIN products include, but are not limited to, All Purpose Cleaner, Laundry Detergent, Basin, Tub & Tile Cleaner, Clinging Toilet Bowl Cleaner, Hand Soap (non-disinfectant), Glass & Window Cleaner, Degreaser, pH Neutral Floor Cleaner, Cream Cleanser, Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner and Pot & Pan Cleaner.  Products in this category meet the following criteria:
 

• Must be free of known human carcinogens, mutagens, teratogens and endocrine disruptors  
• Must not contain heavy metals, Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs) or Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEs), phthalates, detergent-building phosphates, Triclosan or petroleum-derived / petrochemical blended fragrances
• Must be safe for septic tanks and greywater
• Are free of animal ingredients whenever possible and animal testing should be avoided whenever possible
• Must not contain components which cause or contribute to the creation of greenhouse gases or ozone depletion or contribute to the production of photochemical smog, tropospheric ozone or poor indoor-air quality
• Must not be corrosive
• Must have low or no Volatile Organic Compound levels
• Must not be delivered in single use aerosol cans or cans using ozone-depleting propellants  
• Must not be corrosive to skin or inanimate surfaces
• Our products must not be severe skin or eye irritants
• Should not be combustible below 150ºF
• Must not contain chlorine, chlorinated or brominated solvents
• Must not contain compounds that persist or bioaccumulate in human or animal tissue or in the environment
• Ingredients must not be listed on the Environmental Protection Agency’s hazardous air pollutants list
• Should be readily biodegradable at greater than 90% in thirty days without the need to be run through a municipal effluent treatment process; if not biodegradable due to inorganic content the ingredient must be chemically inert
• Should be as concentrated as possible to green the supply chain
• Should be able to be dispensed through automatic systems in order to reduce user and environmental contact
• Must not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate   
• Must not contain paraben
• Must be free of any synthetic preservatives
• Should contain dyes derived from natural resources whenever possible

DIC Products  

DIC products, to the greatest extent possible, contain ingredients that are natural or naturally-derived but may include some synthetic ingredients for which effective natural substitutes have yet to be developed. DIC products include but are not limited to:  Air Freshener & Deodorizer, Floor Stripper, Floor Finish, Stainless Steel Cleaner & Furniture Polish, Graffiti Remover and Spray Buff.  DIC products meet the following criteria:

• Must not contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
• Must not be corrosive
• Must have low or no Volatile Organic Compound levels
• Must not contain heavy metals that are toxic to humans, animal life or the environment
• Must not be delivered in single-use aerosol cans or cans using ozone-depleting propellants
• Must not contain ozone-depleting ingredients or detergent-building phosphates
• Must not contain Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs) or Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEs)

Sanitizer & Disinfectants

Our sanitizer and disinfectants contain synthetic ingredients for which natural alternatives have yet to be developed.  Germ-killing efficacy is paramount for these products and synthetic microbiocides are simply more effective at this time.

• Must not be delivered in single-use aerosol cans or cans using ozone-depleting propellants
• Must not contain ozone-depleting ingredients or detergent-building phosphates
• Must not contain Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs) or Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APEs)
• Must not contain heavy metals that are toxic to humans, animal life or the environment

Our product standards are aligned with Green Seal and EcoLogo certification guidelines for specific product categories.  Third party certified products are tested according to one of the following criteria:  the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the Consumer Specialty Products Association (CSPA), or Green Seal / EcoLogo standards by product category.
