In September 2013 Deirdre Imus was Honored With The Canary Award
Deirdre Imus, National Leader for Children’s Health and the Environment, president and founder of The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® at Hackensack University Medical Center and co-founder/co-director of the Imus Cattle Ranch for Kids with Cancer was honored with the Canary Award Friday, September 27, at the The Harmonie Club in New York.

In July 2010, Hackensack University Medical Center (HackensackUMC) was chosen to receive an Excellence in Patient Care award by the Studer Group for its exemplary “cleanliness” ratings on a national patient survey.

In January 2010, Gilda's Club Northen New Jersey announced the addition of Deirdre Imus to its Board of Directors.

In November 2009, Westport Magazine named Deirdre Imus "Greenest Volunteer" in its 2009 "Light a Fire" awards campaign honoring givers and philanthropist.

In April, Ms. Imus was honored with the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Northeast Organic Farming Association.

Deirdre Imus received a Heart of Green "Guardian" Award from The Daily Green in May 2009.

In addition, Deirdre was named as one of Glamour magazine’s Eco Heroes for 2009.

On December 2008, The third volume in the New York Times bestselling Green This! series from Deirdre Imus debuted. In The Essential Green You!, Deirdre Imus shares tips on how to "green" the way you take care of yourself, whether with the food you eat or the clothes you wear, or the cosmetics, toiletries, and hair products you use every single day.

In November, HackensackUMC was awarded the 2008 Environmental Quality Award for Excellence by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA) for greening the Sarkis and Siran Gabrellian Women’s and Children’s Pavilion. The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® was instrumental in the "green building" achievement. Among other green features, the pavilion uses wheatboard rather than particleboard (which may contain formaldehyde), recycled jeans for insulation, and the Environmental Center's award-winning Greening The Cleaning® program.

In May 2008, Deirdre Imus was named "Woman of the Year" by the USO, and named to the Board of Directors of Generation Rescue.

In April 2008, the second volume in the New York Times best-selling Green This! series by Deirdre Imus debuted, Growing Up Green, Baby and Child Care. Two weeks later, it became a New York Times Bestseller.

In March 2008, the U.S. Green Building Council-NJ Chapter bestowed its first Green Products Award on the Environmental Center's commercial line of Greening The Cleaning® products.

In May 2007, timed with World Asthma Day, The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® and the East Harlem Council for Human Services, Inc./Boriken Neighborhood Health Center (EHCHS) announced a collaboration to create the first "Green" primary health care facility in New York City.

The EPA award highlighted recent “Green Building” efforts, which include the Environmental Health Center’s award-winning Greening The Cleaning® program and the Center's role in creating HackensackUMC's Sarkis & Siran Gabrellian Women's & Childrens Pavilion, which opened in December 2005 and exceeds the U.S. Green Building Council's guidelines for Leadership in Environmental Design (LEED).

The Green Guide gave HackensackUMC Sarkis & Siran Gabrellian Women's and Children's Pavilion a "Top Ten Green Hospital " ranking from the Green Guide Institute. The Environmental Health Center provided guidance for the design and construction of the Pavilion, making it one of the few environmentally-responsible “green” hospitals in the country.

In April 2006, Connecticut Governor M. Jodi Rell signed Executive Order 14, mandating the immediate use of "green cleaning" products in state facilities. Governor Rell recognized the legislation as a move to minimize risks to health and the environment.

In January 2006, with information from the Center and our award-winning Greening The Cleaning® program, New Jersey Governor Richard Codey signed Executive Order 76, requiring all state agencies and authorities to begin using environmentally-responsible cleaning products that are free of harmful chemicals.
