June  2017                                                                              Vol. 12 / No. 2

Deirdre_Imus_Headshot_cropped_new_2-9-15_cropDear Friends,

As summer approaches and we make plans to travel or for a simple stay-cation, there are ways we can all help kids enjoy the outdoors. Getting outside reaps health benefits that can help address chronic health conditions as diverse as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, stress, insomnia, ADHD, anxiety, social issues, depression and more.  Our own Dr. Rosen will present on this issue to medical staff in June, with information based on the National Environmental Education Foundation’s (NEEF) Rx for Outdoor Activity initiative. I also cover this in my latest blog, highlighting the health benefits of a whole food, organic diet and everyday exercise. This has been a long-standing effort at our Center, fueled by the dedication of Dr. Rosen. We are grateful to him as our Medical Advisor of ten years and wish him the best on the journey ahead in children’s environmental health.

This issue, we also thank all those who made Earth Day 2017 such a success. Click here for pics and updates on all of our initiatives, including the “Bella the Bride” display made out of discarded Tyvek®, a sterilizable material widely used in medical device packaging.

Wishing you and yours health and wellness,

Deirdre
