Volunteers Green The Campus

nicolette_cropAmong over 1,900 volunteers at Hackensack University Medical Center are several who educate staff and guests on keeping the campus green. This summer, two college volunteers, Nicolette and Sam, spearheaded efforts to help educate on proper recycling in our main campus cafeteria. The Second Street Café serves over 1,700 meals per day, which requires an efficient system for sorting waste that can easily be followed by guests and employees alike.
 
Our dedicated volunteers also helped to educate employees and guests on healthier food choices available on campus as well as assist in our Farm Stand at the HackensackUMC Fitness & Wellness Center.
 
As one of the largest medical centers in the country, we are committed to enhancing our environmental practices and initiatives. We thank the volunteers who lend their time and expertise to The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® in helping to further our commitment to a more sustainable hospital environment for our patients, employees, and our community.
