Welcome Dr. Lawrence Rosen, MD & Karen Overgaard, LPN

The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® is pleased to announce our new medical advisor, Lawrence Rosen, MD.

Dr. Rosen is a board-certified general pediatrician committed to family-centered, holistic child health care. In addition to acting as medical advisor to The Deirdre Imus Environmental Center, he practices in northern New Jersey and is Chief of Pediatric Integrative Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC). Dr. Rosen is a nationally recognized expert in Pediatric Integrative Medicine, acting as Chair of the Integrative Pediatrics Council, a non-profit foundation dedicated to transforming children's health care. Dr. Rosen is also a founding member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Provisional Section on Complementary, Holistic and Integrative Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at both professional and consumer gatherings, discussing topics such as holistic care of the newborn and the integrative management of autism.

Dr. Rosen is a graduate of New York Medical College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He completed his residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.


Karen Overgaard, LPN, is a primary care nurse working with Dr. Rosen in the Division of Pediatric Integrative Medicine at HUMC and at his practice in northern New Jersey. Karen is a recognized expert in the field of holistic nursing and a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association. She has over 35 years in clinical nursing experience. In addition, she is certified as an instructor in infant massage, yoga, fitness and dance; additionally, she is a Reiki Master. Most recently, Karen coordinated the Kids’ Weigh to Health program at Pascack Valley Hospital for children with weight and nutrition issues.

As part of the Division of Pediatric Integrative Medicine, Dr. Rosen and Karen Overgaard, LPN, treat a wide variety of childhood illnesses and conditions, including pain and injury, stress and sleep problems, asthma and allergies, developmental issues, and chronic or recurrent illnesses, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. The division offers nutrition and nutritional supplements counseling, herbal and botanical remedies counseling, guided imagery and other mind-body techniques, yoga, therapeutic/infant massage, and reiki.
