new_image_deirdre_retouched3x5Dear Friends,

Many of us approach this time of year with high expectations:  the decorations have to be just right, the gifts perfect, and the family in good cheer.

So how about skipping the expectations and going for what really matters?  Tune into what makes the season – and the year to come – meaningful for you and your family.  In that spirit, we hope you enjoy this issue of Greening Your Life, where you’ll find holistic nurse Maureen McDonnell’s tips for managing anxiety, Dr. Rosen’s insights on yoga for kids, and my article on the Human Papillomavirus vaccine. Keeping in the spirit of the season, you’ll also find my Healthy Gift Ideas guide and my cold & flu blog with effective ideas for staying well.
From all of us at the Center, thank you for your support which makes our work possible.  The research at our Center is a tribute to the kids we help at Hackensack University Medical Center and throughout the country because of your generosity. Thank you from all of us.

 Best wishes,

 Deirdre Imus

PS – Remember to follow us into the new year on Facebook and let’s make this your family’s healthiest yet.

Anxiety:  Holistic Approaches to Healing
Most of us are familiar with feelings of anxiety, especially the ones that precede important events such as having to speak in public or going on a first date.   Some anxiety in response to life’s challenges is normal.  Anxiety disorders however differ in that they cause one to feel frightened, and uneasy for no apparent reason.   When these disorders are not addressed or treated, they can drastically reduce a person’s ability to function and diminish an individual’s quality of life.
