Hackensack University Medical Center welcomed 20 babies born on December 12, 2012 at the Donna A. Sanzari Women’s Hospital.
One of the babies was eight-pound Anjolia McNeight, who was born to Trisha an Eddie McNeight of Dunellen, New Jersey. After having two sons, the couple chose 12-12-12 in the hope the sequential date would help bring them a baby girl.
"We were very, very excited to learn it was a girl," said Trisha McNeight. "My husband and I said, it’s a lucky day, it’s a date I can’t forget, I’ll always remember her birthday. We were just saying third time’s the charm and on 12-12-12 maybe we’ll get our little girl, let’s go for it."
Anjolia was delivered by Manny Alvarez, M.D., chairman, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at HackensackUMC, who said there was an overwhelming request by expectant parents to deliver on this special date.
"Many patients a couple months before kept asking me if they could arrange for the birth to occur on 12-12-12,” said Dr. Alvarez. “My position is always very clear. I know patients sometimes have a number in mind, but safety comes first and you want to deliver them when they need to be delivered not when they want them to be."
