Palisades Medical Center and HackensackUMC have agreed to provide an on-site neonatal attending physician through HackensackUMC’s renowned Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital for the Level 2 Nursery at Palisades Medical Center. In addition, HackensackUMC will provide 24-hour coverage and availability for neonatal consults, transports and in-house pediatric hospitalist coverage.
The second part of the clinical affiliation involves pediatric cardiology ultrasound and echocardiography reading for Palisades Medical Center. HackensackUMC will establish an electronic transfer protocol in order to ensure a 48-hour turnaround time to provide a report from a board certified pediatric cardiologist.
Mark J. Brescia, M.D., chairman of OB/GYN at Palisades Medical Center, is pleased that expanded services will now be available for residents in its primary service area of Hudson and southern Bergen counties. “Palisades Medical Center’s new affiliation agreement with HackensackUMC will ensure that appropriate staffing and equipment are always available and that proper protocols and standards of excellence are followed. The Neonatal Level 2 Nursery is always staffed by one or more board certified neonatologists, resident physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, physician assistants, and respiratory therapists at all times,” said Dr. Brescia.
“We are excited to begin this medical affiliation with Palisades Medical Center,” said Jeffrey R. Boscamp, M.D., physician-in-chief and chairman of the Joseph M.
