HackensackUMC Announces the Designer Showhouse of New Jersey 2012

Hackensack University Medical Centeris pleased to announce that thesixth annual Designer Showhouse of New Jersey will open with a Preview Party on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. The Showhouse will be open to the public from Sunday, April 29 to Sunday, June 10, 2012. The hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This year’s Showhouse is located at 27 Denison Drive in Saddle River, N.J.
The Designer Showhouse of New Jersey is a showcase for America’s premier design talent. Approximately 25 top interior and landscape designers from New York and New Jersey will transform a luxurious New Jersey home into a decorating masterpiece. Additional attractions include the Showhouse Boutiques and the Personal Touch Caterers Café. Proceeds of the Designer Showhouse of New Jersey will benefit the Heart & Vascular Hospital and the Emergency Trauma Department at HackensackUMC.

The new Heart & Vascular Hospital provides cardiac, vascular and neurovascular patients with more coordinated care in one centralized location. Equipped with new technology that can show blood vessels in 3-D and more than 35 cardiologists on staff, the hospital will include a cardiac rehabilitation and wellness center, neurology and stroke recovery floor and a floor dedicated to kidney transplant.

Teichholz, M.D., chief of Cardiology, acting co-chairman, Heart & Vascular Hospital, HackensackUMC. “In addition, Thomson Reuters also listed HackensackUMC as one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals, and Becker’s Hospital Review named HackensackUMC
to the 70 Hospitals with Great Cardiology Programs list. As the reputation of the Heart & Vascular Hospital continues to attract more patients, we will continue to expand to address the community’s needs.”
The renovation of the Emergency Department at HackensackUMC, expected to be completed by 2013, will include more operating rooms, new technologies and equipment, and will feature four specialty sections for cardio, cancer, trauma and geriatric patients to reduce wait times in the emergency room. The ETD will convert semi-private, curtained cubicles will be converted to fixed-wall private ones, which not only provide greater privacy, but will better accommodate the new technologies and equipment.
“The Emergency Department at HackensackUMC is one of only 10 state designated trauma centers in New Jersey and the only one in Bergen County,” said Joseph Feldman, M.D., chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine, HackensackUMC. “We have has earned the HealthGrades Emergency Medicine Excellence Award for the second consecutive year for
2011-2012. The upcoming expansion will nearly double the size of our Emergency Department and once complete, we are confident that it will be the best-equipped and most patient-friendly Emergency Department in the entire region.”
