HackensackUMC Physicians Selected as Top Doctors in New Jersey Monthly Magazine

Hackensack University Medical Center is proud to announce that 87 of its affiliated physicians have been recognized as Top Doctors, according to New Jersey Monthly magazine.  A total of 22,780 New Jersey-based physicians were invited to submit their recommendations for this year’s list. It yielded 839 top doctors in 68 medical specialties.

“I would like to congratulate each of the 87 HackensackUMC physicians who have been listed on the New Jersey Monthly Top Doctors list,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of Hackensack University Health Network. “We work very hard to recruit and retain the best of the best in healthcare, and I am thrilled that so many highly-respected physicians choose to be part of HackensackUMC.”

To compile the list, New Jersey Monthly commissioned an independent survey by Leflein Associates, a research firm in Ringwood. Leflein Associates mailed a questionnaire to every doctor licensed in New Jersey for at least five years, and each was asked to vote for physicians he or she would choose to treat him or herself or a family member. Leflein tallied the votes and provided the preliminary results to New Jersey Monthly.

Next, a blue-ribbon advisory board of New Jersey doctors examined the preliminary results for possible additions or deletions, with special attention to physicians in their respective fields of practice or regions of the state.

“Congratulations to all of the New Jersey Monthly Top Doctors,” said Ihor S. Sawczuk, M.D., executive vice president and chief medical officer of HackensackUMC. “This list is particularly flattering since it is a peer-nominated submission. It is so nice to know how many HackensackUMC physicians are respected, and as a Top Doctor myself, I am honored to be listed among such skilled physicians.”
