Two HackensackUMC team members recently received their 2012 Spirit of Planetree Awards, and leaders from the executive team joined the recipients to congratulate them. The awards are sponsored by Planetree®, an organization committed to patient-centered care. Mary Ann Michelis, M.D., chief of Allergy and Immunology, HackensackUMC; and Catherine DiPasquale, manager, Volunteer Services, were the recipients of the 2012 Spirit of Planetree Awards.
Dr. Michelis received the Physician Champion award for her commitment and dedication to her career, patients and those she mentors, which exemplifies the Planetree model of patient-family-centered care. DiPasquale oversees a department comprised of nearly 1,600 volunteers, and provides essential services that sustain and enhance patient-centered care.
The awards were created to enhance patient-centered care through public recognition of those healthcare providers who personalize and demystify the healthcare experience for others, as well as design and implement unique services demonstrating extraordinary patient outcomes.
