HackensackUMC Welcomes Tony delCampo as its new Executive Director of Commercialization and Technology Ventures

Hackensack University Medical Center is pleased to welcome Tony delCampo as its new executive director of the Office of Commercialization and Technology Ventures. In this role, Tony will be responsible for leading HackensackUMC’s technology transfer effort to facilitate and promote the development of intellectual property created by investigators at or associated with the medical center. The office provides oversight and management of intellectual property, technology licensing and industry collaborations in support of HackensackUMC’s research program.

Tony was previously at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) where he served as vice president, Office of Research and Technology Ventures (ORTV). Under his leadership, ORTV was responsible for DFCI’s intellectual property management, licensing, new venture formation and industry collaborations. He served as chair of the Technology Transfer Committee for the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center and is a former chair of the Massachusetts Association of Technology Transfer Offices, a statewide technology transfer organization representing 33 academic member institutions. Prior to DFCI, Tony was recruited to Genome Therapeutics Corporation in Boston where he was senior director of Corporate Development. Tony has held business development positions of increasing responsibility at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and BCM Technologies, Inc., the venture and technology transfer subsidiary of Baylor College of Medicine, and was a senior research associate at LifeCell Corporation. He is a named inventor on several patents relating to tissue preservation.

Tony received his basic research training at the National Cancer Institute as a Research Biologist and supervisor of an Analytical Electron Microscopy Laboratory. Tony holds a BA degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and conducted graduate work in cell biology at Georgetown University. He also holds an MBA with concentrations in finance and management from the C.T. Bauer College of Business Administration at the University of Houston. He is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP™) and a Registered Technology Transfer Practitioner (RTTP).
