Last month Hackensack University Medical Center officially opened the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital Outpatient Specialty Center with a ribbon cutting to introduce the new location. The facility, at 155 Polifly Road in Hackensack, NJ, is one mile from HackensackUMC’s main campus and will provide significantly more space for three of the Children’s Hospital’s 30 pediatric care practices.

Specifically, Pediatric Dermatology and Pediatric Gastroenterology have joined the existing Pediatric Cardiology Practice at the newly renovated outpatient center. The move comes after significant growth in the Children’s Hospital patient base. The modernized center will accommodate greater access for current and future pediatric patients.

“The Outpatients Specialty Center’s renovation and expansion is a testament to our wonderful doctors, nurses and staff who have consistently served our patients with award-winning care,” said Robert C. Garrett, president and chief executive officer of the Hackensack University Health Network. “We look forward to increasing our pediatric capabilities and delivering award-winning pediatric care to even more children and families.”

“We are thrilled that the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital Outpatient Specialty Center is now serving the metropolitan area,” said Dr. Jeffrey Boscamp, physician-in-chief of the Children’s Hospital and the Marvin I Gottlieb, MD Chair in Pediatrics. “This cutting edge facility is the perfect setting to complement our core hospital. Having our over 150 pediatric subspecialists in close proximity assists the patients and families when multiple specialist visits are necessary.”

The renovations include a state-of-the-art vascular laser treatment. Moreover, the Outpatient Specialty Center is child-friendly and includes brightly painted walls, a relaxed environment and new toys in the waiting room. For parents and caretakers, there is also free valet parking.

The Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital at HackensackUMC provides comprehensive medical and surgical pediatric care in more than 30 specialties, all integrated within a state-of-the-art child-focused facility. The facility offers 24-hour access to leading physicians, nurses, staff and a Pediatric Emergency Department. It features a modern facility with children’s play and family kitchen areas, and private inpatient rooms with computers, internet access, and flat-screen plasma televisions.  Parents are encouraged to take part in their children’s treatment and hospitalization and are welcome to stay overnight. The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital was planned and designed to be a “green” hospital.
