Living on a farm found to drastically reduce the risk of inflammatory bowel disease

A Canadian study concludes, yet again, that urbanization influences the development of intestinal microbiomes. The gut bacteria plays a direct role in the occurrence of illnesses such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), which includes Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. These are lifelong conditions which can cause chronic diarrhea, bloody stool, weight loss, and abdominal pain.
