It’s no secret that men need to pay more attention to their well-being. You have a lot on your shoulders! Keeping up with your profession, family life, outside interests and relationships means that sometimes you may not be paying attention to your health like you should.
So, what can you do to make sure that you’re able to keep up with all that life has to offer? You need a GAMEPLAN. Simple steps to help you take charge of your health.
At HackensackUMC, we are committed to providing our patients with clinical excellence, the latest information, and a host of resources to keep you on track.
1. Take a Time Out:
Lack of sleep can lead to serious consequences, such as:

Increased risk of diabetes or heart disease
-
Increased risk of psychiatric issues, including depression or substance abuse
2. Fuel for Performance:
-
Men have more muscle and moderately active men should consume 2,000 to 2,800 calories per day. Individual needs depend on your height, weight and activity level.
-
For energy, weight management and disease prevention, men should eat whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
3. Know the Stats:

5. Talk to Your Coach: Do you have a doctor? If not, get one. Visit HackensackUMC.org or call (855) 996-WELL (9355) today.
6. Prepare a Training Regimen: Staying active throughout life is the most powerful way to remain healthy and live long enough to enjoy all the things you’ve worked for. Exercise helps keep your heart and lungs working, can prevent the early onset of some diseases, improve bone health, and may help ease depression for some people
7. Take Care of Your Teammates: The single most important way you can take care of yourself and those you love is to actively take part in your health care. Serve as an example, and everyone reaps the benefits. Educate yourself on health care and participate in decisions with your doctor.
8. Know the Fundamentals: Stop Smoking. Eat Healthy. Be Active.
9. Keep Your Equipment in Good Order: See your physician each year for a comprehensive physical and to monitor your health risks.
