Nursing Leadership at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC), as part of its “Magnet Football program” within the Department of Patient Care, recently awarded the winners of its team pennant decorating contest. Winners were awarded in four categories: most creative, best team spirit, best Magnet message, and most magnetic.

Winning first place for “Most Creative,” was 3 Pavilion East, whose team was named “The Replacements.”

Winning first place for “Best Team Spirit,” was Endoscopy, whose team was named “The Tight Ends.”

Winning first place for “Best Magnet Message,” was the Radiology Department, whose team was named “The Alpha Gamma Rays.”

Lastly, the winners of first place for “Most Magnetic,” were “The Shining Stars,” from 2 Pavilion East.

After the awards ceremony, the Department of Patient Care became the audience for a special guest speaker, Mr. Bryan Kehl, a rookie linebacker on the New York Football Giants. Mr. Kehl took questions from the audience and relayed the principles of teamwork he’s learned in his job, and applying them in your job or in your everyday life. He spoke of the challenges of being a rookie, and what it takes to win and improve your game. At the end of the discussion, he posed for pictures and autographs with the HUMC nursing staff.
