Sarkis and Siran Gabrellian Child Care and Learning Center

The Sarkis & Siran Gabrellian Child Care and Learning Center (CCLC) is a freestanding child care center and part of the Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital.   The center provides care for children from 3 months to 6 years of age.  Open year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., the program is designed to enhance intellectual, physical, emotional, and social growth.

In addition to the 18 classrooms where children are grouped according to age, there is a computer room, an on-site kitchen facility and an atrium with an interactive model train layout known as Toscano Junction.  There are also two outdoor playgrounds; one equipped for preschoolers and the other equipped for infants and toddlers.

As part of The Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital at Hackensack University Medical Center, the children of the CCLC are invited to participate in many hospital-sponsored events. These experiences are then brought back to the classroom and woven into the curriculum.

Services

In addition to the regular program provided to families, the CCLC offers drop in care for children when schools are closed for vacations and holidays, snow days and for children whose parents have appointments in the Medical Center.  A summer program is available from the end of June thru Labor Day.  These services are provided for children from 5 to 8 years of age.  Pre-registration is requested for all programs to ensure availability.

Staff

More than half of the staff of the CCLC has been part of the program for ten years or more.  All teachers meet the requirements for group teachers and have either a CDA credential, AA, BA or MA.  Some assistant teachers have advance degrees as well.  All meet the professional development requirements for child care center staff.
