The distinction of becoming the first program in the state to achieve accreditation from the Association for Blood Conservation, (formerly known as The National Association of Bloodless Medicine and Surgery) solidified the reputation of The Center for Bloodless Medicine and Surgery at HackensackUMC as being on the forefront of providing medical and surgical care without the use of transfused blood products.
The Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program at HackensackUMC remained the only nationally accredited program on the East Coast for 13 consecutive years and the longest such accredited in the country. Recently new standards were developed by the Society for the Advancement of Blood Management that will replace the original standards. Our program will be applying for that new accreditation once it becomes available.
