HackensackUMC’s Office of Commercialization and Technology Ventures bridges the gap between inventors and the commercialization process.  We provide support with research, intellectual property (IP) guidance; venture capitalist collaboration and transferring of skills, knowledge and technology into new products or services that directly benefit society, create jobs and generate revenue to help support the research mission of HackensackUMC.  

Mission Statement:    

The fundamental mission of the Office of Commercialization and Technology Ventures is to facilitate and promote the development of IP by investigators at or associated with HackensackUMC.  The Office provides oversight and management of IP, and ensures the rights and obligations of the Medical Center and individual faculty and staff members with respect to inventions, patents and transfer of technology produced with the use of funds administered by the Medical Center.

Key functions of the Office of Commercialization and Technology Ventures include: 

  • Educate researchers about intellectual property and technology transfer process.
  • Receive and evaluates patent disclosures for commercial viability.
  • Identify outside development partners.
  • Licensing HUMC faculty inventions.
  • Research support.
  • Copyright and trademark support.
  • Material Transfer Agreement processing.
