Spine surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center is delivered as a multi-specialty service combining the expertise of neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, vascular surgeons, neurologists, pain medicine specialists, and psychologists.  Our dedicated team also includes specially trained operating room personnel, nurses, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers, and social workers.

Individualized Care

Successful spine surgery is measured not only by the skill of the surgeons but by the care taken in the evaluation of each patient prior to a surgical incision ever being considered.  Indications for surgery require combining the latest in evidence-based medicine with the particular needs and concerns of each individual patient.

     After a patient’s medical history and test results are reviewed and he/she receives the proper physical examinations, our spine surgery specialists begin a course of treatment.  We emphasize a conservative approach using the latest evidence-based medicine as deemed appropriate.  An emphasis on “minimal access” is taken in the small percentage of patients that ultimately are appropriate surgical candidates.  Our surgeons are innovative and continuously advancing their knowledge of the latest breakthroughs in surgical techniques.  We are educating others as we incorporate these latest advances into our practice.  To ensure the highest level of care to patients, our award-winning team also participates in peer-reviewed quality assessments of all treatment rendered.
