General Information
Developmental-Behavioral Disorders: Update 2013 is our 31st annual national conference providing an intensive learning experience for pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, and other pediatric healthcare providers. The program content addresses current issues in developmental-behavioral medicine and their profound impact on the child, family, educational system, community and healthcare provider.
Continuing education programs in developmental behavioral pediatrics are essential as new priorities mandate increasing professional responsibilities in this area. Periodic updating of knowledge on etiology, early identification, management and prevention are critical as significant advances emerge.
Plenary speakers and round table discussion leaders for this conference represent a most outstanding faculty with representative expertise from various disciplines concerned with developmental-behavioral problems. The program format provides a concentrated and in-depth educational milieu which encompasses concise reviews of significant issues, analysis of recent research, discussions of provocative concepts, suggestions for office management and thought-provoking problem-solving. The presentations embrace a spectrum of exciting educational materials and opportunities for faculty-audience interactions. A comprehensive conference syllabus will be distributed to all registrants providing abstracts of the faculty presentations, reference citations, and supplemental materials. The target audience is the physician and health professional either in private or hospital-based practice serving children with potentially chronic handicapping disorders.

PROGRAM PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
These presentations will provide pediatricians and other pediatric healthcare providers a professional forum for the dissemination of information on quality care for infants, children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders. Focus on the interdisciplinary approach to diagnosis and management of developmental and behavioral problems and the impact that developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders have on the child, family, educational system, healthcare provider and community will be examined.
At the conclusion of this educational activity the participants will be able to:
1. Identify the history, presentation and diagnostic criteria regarding developmental, speech and anxiety disorders in children
2. Describe current trends in ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders in Pediatrics
3. Recognize and discuss children and adolescents who are at risk for psychosocial issues
4. Describe current trends and controversies in pediatric sleep disorders
5. Review Toe Walkers-Causes and current treatment modalities in children
6. Identify neurological behaviors that are exhibited in children diagnosed with Tourette and Down Syndromes
