Plastic pollution worsens as study finds 15% MORE single-use bottles are washing up on a remote beach in the Atlantic Ocean every year since the 1980s

Volumes of plastic waste washing up on an uninhabited South Atlantic island is worsening, with 15 per cent more bottles drifting onshore each year since the 1980s.  Researchers compared surveys of pollution on the remote beach from the eighties with those they undertook in 2009 and 2018.  Single-use plastic bottles were the most prevalent form of debris, most of which were manufactured within two years of being washed ashore.  Read more.....
