Renewed science effort under way to turn water into fuel using energy from solar panels

The energy sector might be getting closer to developing a new fuel source by converting water into hydrogen fuel using solar energy. Researchers at Masdar Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have looked into the potential of using catalysts to facilitate faster and more efficient water splitting process and making it more sustainable in producing hydrogen through solar energy.  Hydrogen has always been touted as an energy-dense fuel with many uses. However, there are no naturally occurring hydrogen reserves, and the element is currently generated through high-energy mechanisms that depend on fossil fuels.
