Some toxic chemicals found in water can be created by the treatment process itself

Water treatment processes are supposed to make public water safe enough to wash or even drink. However, some of the newer methods that break down harmful substances apparently create new toxic chemicals that are just as bad, an article in Science Daily states.  Most water treatment plants use oxidation-based processes. These treatment methods break down toxic substances into “transformation products,” which are different substances that are thought to be less harmful.  Read more...
