Robert C. Garrett, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hackensack University Medical Center, issued the following statement regarding the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services’ decision to deem Hackensack University Medical Center’s Certificate of Need application complete:
“We are pleased the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services deemed complete our Certificate of Need application to open a new hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley. This is an important step in the process towards restoring the much needed hospital services to the residents of the Pascack and Northern Valley regions. We look forward to a public hearing which will allow community members to make their voices heard. We remain confident that this fair and open process will lead to the opening of Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley, finally bringing Westwood’s community hospital home.”
A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Westwood Regional Junior/Senior High School in Washington Township.
If approved, Hackensack University Medical Center at Pascack Valley will be a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital, providing the same nationally recognized quality care that Hackensack University Medical Center is known for. The hospital will feature all private patient rooms, a state of the art obstetrical unit, and an intensive/critical care unit. Surgical capabilities will feature five operating rooms and one special procedure room, in addition to a cardiac catheterization room. This inpatient hospital will act as an anchor to many in-demand, outpatient services such as radiology, women’s health and same-day surgery, among others.
