HackensackUMC Receives 2015 Social Stewardship Award-Sustainability

Hackensack_Award_Recipients_2015_Health_TrustThe Social Stewardship Award recognizes members who have:

• Demonstrated a commitment to the conservation and preservation of the healthcare environment.

• Have a proven track record of advancing diversity in their use of minority‐ and women owned businesses.

• Or have gone “above and beyond” in their community outreach efforts to improve access to care.

Is your organization looking for more sustainable solutions?
Recognized with the same award last year, Hackensack University Medical Center is further blazing the sustainability frontier. They are 1 of 5 hospitals in the U.S. to ban the use of all flame retardant materials in hospital furniture and are advocating for stricter government oversight of the Safer Chemicals Act.  Kudos to them for also reducing their regulated medical waste by over 350 tons and improving energy conservation through deployment of Energy Star PCs.

Please join me in recognizing Hackensack’s Green Team members Kyle Tafuri, Richard Killeen,
Geffry LaFortune, Janet O’Dea and Josh Binn.
