Back in early 2015, when it was discovered that cost cutting measures by the city of Flint, Michigan, had left residential drinking water contaminated with dangerous levels of lead there was a national outcry. And rightly so, since lead consumption can cause a multitude of health problems, including nerve, heart and kidney damage, and even outbreaks of Legionnaire’s disease – a deadly form of pneumonia caused by inhaling Legionella pneumophila or other species of Legionella bacteria which can hide in the organic matter that lines drinking water pipes.  Read more...
